Hi, I’m Gabrielle,
I am the founder of Little Foodie Adventures.
I grew up in Aotearoa (New Zealand) and four years ago I moved to Naarm (Melbourne). Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of supporting families and early childhood educators navigate mealtimes, the food environment at early education and care services (ECEC), and the often tricky conversations that come with food and bodies. I now bring my expertise gathered over nearly a decade of experience to provide consultancy and professional learning to ECEC services in-person locally in Naarm and virtually across Australia and Aotearoa.
As an Accredited Practicing Dietitian I have seen just how helpful food exploration and responsive feeding approaches are for supporting children in growing confidence with eating and learning to like a variety of food.
Little Foodie Adventures grew from my clinical paediatric experience guiding families and their cautious eaters. I noticed that many of the food learning resources available for children were busy, wordy and designed more for adults than the little people they were meant to support. I wanted to create something that felt playful and inviting for children, while being genuinely simple and useful for parents and educators.
And so, the Food Explorer Flashcards were born.
Each flashcard has been illustrated by me, drawing inspiration from nature and the things that children encounter everyday. A yellow sun, soft clouds, crunchy leaves - the senses of the world around us are woven into the cards because I love the idea of connecting food exploration with the world children already know and explore.
My hope is that I can support families and educators to nurture children who are curious eaters and who develop confidence to explore the wonderful world of food, one little foodie adventure at a time.
✷ I've been lucky to work alongside organisations across Australia and Aotearoa to improve the way we support children, families and the people who work with them.
